Confirmation: A Congregational Planner

Confirmation: A Congregational Planner is a resource for congregational confirmation
ministry teams. The 1993 report of the ELCA Confirmation Ministry Task Force recommends that
each congregation form a team whose purpose is to establish and implement an effective
confirmation ministry program that meets the specific needs of the congregation.

This resource will guide the work of your congregation in confirmation ministry. It will help you:
structure a team that reflects the size, makeup and administrative structure of your congregation;
work to define the purpose of confirmation ministry in relationship to the congregation's mission;
consider the rich historical and theologicial traditions of Lutheran confirmation ministry; and plan,
implement, and evaluate a program of confirmation ministry that is rooted in baptism and is a vital
part of the congregation's effort to provide lifelong nurture in the faith.

Each of four chapters concludes with questions for discussion and reflection that will help your
team process new information and apply it to your ministry setting.
